LISBON – R. Douglas Phelps, 54, of Lisbon, died April 7, 2022 at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on September 16, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Sharon (Phillips) Hebron and the late Ronald Lee Phelps.

Doug will always be remembered and will be missed by his special daughter, Michelle Baker of Lisbon. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Sharon and Keith Hebron of Rogers, his children: James D. Phelps of Leetonia and Seth D. Phelps and James (Roy Allen) (Stephanie) Larkins both of Lisbon, brothers and sisters John Franklin of Lisbon, Melanie Felger and Mindi (Shawn) Raley, both of Lisbon and her grandchildren.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by a daughter, Alisa Phelps.

Doug worked hard in the construction industry. He was most recently with his brother-in-law, Todd Reynolds Construction. He had previously traveled with a professional sound system construction company. They have been hired to organize big events like the “Great Pretenders” and many more.

In his early years he attended local schools in East Liverpool, Wellsville and Beaver. He wasn’t a big fan of school, but he learned to be a welder at the Career Center in Lisbon.

There were many other interests he had such as fishing, target practice with guns and hunting, snatching cars. He was very familiar with these old Chevrolets and other cars. He should have had that Chevy bow tie on his forehead. There was a real appreciation in tearing things apart and fixing them when they broke. In good weather, you could find him at Quaker City Drag Strip, watching the cars howl down the Strip.

A great lover of music of all kinds and collection of DVD and VHS movies. If there was an old fashioned movie/music swap, he could get lost in it for hours. These collections have also joined the collection of miniature cars, antiques and many other things.

Family and friends will always remember the stories he told, having fun with his stepfather, a personality that was just to be laughed at and all those wonderful hugs he gave so freely.

There will be no services at this time.
