Construction begins on new Durham care home expected to create 58 jobs

Construction of a new care home has begun as part of a new community development in County Durham.

LNT Care Developments began work on the 66-bed house at DurhamGate after obtaining planning permission, paving the way for the creation of 58 jobs.

Based on the main boulevard entrance at DurhamGate, the development will provide general residential care as well as care for people with dementia, and LNT Care Developments plans to open the house by summer 2023.

The house will include an en-suite shower room with ample communal and recreational space for residents, including large landscaped gardens.

Having successfully built over 150 homes over the past ten years, DurhamGate is part of the company’s continued growth strategy by bringing much needed residential and dementia facilities to communities across the UK.

Working in partnership with DurhamGate developer, Arlington Real Estate, LNT is also helping to expand the historic mixed-use community, located five miles south of Durham City.

The site already has 300 homes alongside the Fox Cub pub and restaurant, head office offices for accommodation provider LIVIN, national training provider Learning Curve and the Breedon Group.

Arlington Real Estate is developing the next stage of its master plan for DurhamGate, which has sparked significant regeneration on the site and surrounding area.
