Architect Bryan Trubey Brings Bold Creative Vision to Overland Partners’ New Dallas Design Practice | Texas

SAN ANTONIO, September 16, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Famous architect of sports and entertainment venues Bryan trubey, FAIA, will spearhead the new Dallas design practice. Trubey is a renowned design architect whose signature features on a remarkable list of sport and entertainment venues.

Architecture insiders have been speculating on Trubey’s next step since leaving HKS in June, where he worked for 29 years and was global site director and executive vice president of the company.

Those who guessed Trubey’s next move likely were unaware of his long-standing relationship with several members of Overland Partners’ management team. In fact, Robert “Bob” Shemwell, who is a senior manager at Overland, was Trubey’s friend and roommate in Texas A&M University, and they have maintained a friendship for decades.

“As you can imagine, I’ve had a lot of questions since leaving HKS,” Trubey said. “I am absolutely convinced that my best work is in front of me. There was an overriding purpose. I want to work with an established and proven company that had a team of professionals who are rooted in a set of core values. These ideals include the respect, trust and a commitment to generate ‘original thinking’ in everything we create, ”stressed Trubey.

Trubey said he hadn’t considered starting a business with his name on the door.

“People like me thrive when they are part of a dynamic, energetic team with a history of results. In short, it’s Overland Partners,” he said.

Overland is based at San Antonio, and the company has an imposing body of work in Texas as well as through United States and abroad. As Overland grew, Shemwell introduced Trubey to his business partners, one of whom is Rick archer, CEO of Overland.

“The excitement is an understatement as we make this announcement. This is a collaboration best described as a creative fusion of talent that will seamlessly blend together to produce iconic and transformative projects,” said Archer.

Archer said he expects clients to recognize the strength of the company’s combined and diverse portfolios.

Trubey brings to the new office longtime colleagues he calls “some of the best creatives in the business,” including: John hutchings, Austin ash, Boswell Travel, Dan Trafford, Katie miles and Cheryl karalla. Already, they are at work in temporary offices that overlook Klyde Warren Park.

These professionals and many more have been the driving force behind inspiring and innovative entertainment venues around the world. Their portfolio includes AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys; SoFi Stadium, the 3.1 million square foot stadium that is home to the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers; US Bank Stadium, the Minneapolis field for the NFL Vikings as well as the Lucas Oil Stadium, built for the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL. For Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball, Trubey’s team designed the new Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, notable for being the baseball team’s first stadium with a retractable roof; and they designed American Family Field for the Milwaukee Brewers.

This impressive body of work complements that of Overland, which has received over 200 design awards and has been featured in national and international publications and media. A Texas Society of Architects Architectural Firm of the Year, Overland was recognized by Architect Magazine as one of the Top 50 Design Firms and one of the Top 50 Sustainable Design Firms in United States.
